We understand that you may feel nervous about your motorhome medical examination. Our doctor is here to make the whole experience a breeze. Here's some handy advice to help make your medical go well:
So you've got your sights set on the open road! Before you embark on your motorhome journey, there's a little detour you need to take—a motorhome medical.
If you obtained your motorhome license after the month of January in the year 1997, you'll need to jump through this hoop. Don't worry, though; it's all for the greater good of safe and responsible driving.
Let's break it down. If your motorhome weighs between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes, you'll need the category C1 license. But if you're going big and your motorhome tips the scales at over 7.5 tonnes, you'll need the category C license. Remember, we're not messing around here—it's heavy-duty driving for you, my friend!
Oh, and we can't forget about towing! We've got some requirements and restrictions to spice things up. Before you hook anything up to the back of your motorhome, make sure you know which vehicles are fair game. Check out the license and age requirements for towing, because rules are rules, and we've got to follow them. Safety first, folks!
Now, regardless of the category you fall into, you will need to complete a medical if you got your motorhome license after 1997 and to do this, you will need a form called a D4 form, and it's your golden ticket to motorhome-driving glory. Whether you're in the C1 camp or rocking the C category, this form has got you covered. You can find it here. It's your key to hitting the road with confidence!
We will happily complete your motorhome medical at any of our locations.
So there you have it, my motorhome aficionados. Remember, safety and fun go hand in hand on your epic journey. Get that medical done, flex your driving skills, and embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Happy trails and happy motorhoming!
If you're cruising under the age of 45, lucky you! You only need to hop on that medical examination table once, and you're good to hit the road until you reach the big 4-5.
Once you hit that magical age of 45, things change. It's time to put those medical appointments with D4YOU Drivers on your calendar every five years for your medical. Don't worry, though, it's all part of the adventure.
Fast forward a few decades, and now you've arrived at the grand age of 65. Congratulations, you've unlocked a new level of motorhome medical fun! Brace yourself because, at this stage, you'll be visiting your friends at D4YOU for a medical every single year.
So there you have it, fellow motorhome enthusiasts. The duration of your motorhome medicals depends on your age. Enjoy the smooth ride until you turn 45, gear up for the five-year check-ups after that, and prepare for the annual health inspections once you hit the remarkable age of 65. Remember, it's all part of the glorious adventure of motorhome living. Happy travels and healthy road tripping!
The motorhome medical will take approximately 15 minutes. Longer if you stop for a chat and a biscuit.
A motorhome medical is completed using the D4 medical form, also known as a D4 Medical, or a Driver Medical form.
We will test your eyesight, check your blood pressure, and ask medical questions about your history, signs and symptoms that cover the domains required by the DVLA / Group 2 Driving Standards.
When it comes to your motorhome medical, the star of the show is the D4 form. To get your hands on this, you have a couple of options. You can head on over to one of those participating post offices, where they'll gladly hand it over to you. Alternatively, you can embrace the digital age and download the form here.
Oh, and let's not forget about the D2 form. It's like the trusty sidekick to the D4 form. You take the lead and fill out the D2 form yourself.
Ah, the great voyage of the D2 and D4 forms! You'll be pleased to know that they have a one-way ticket to their final destination—the DVLA in Swansea. Godspeed, dear forms, as you make your way to the DVLA in Swansea.
According to the DVLA website, they've set their sights on getting back to you within a three-week timeframe once you've bravely submitted your form. If you have health issues or further checks need to be conducted, the process may take more than 3 weeks.
To save yourself from a long wait wait, our friendly advice is to get that medical ball rolling early.
Motorhome drivers have a medical check known as the motorhome medical, C1 medical, D4 Medical, driver medical etc. Confusing, huh?
But they all mean the same thing: undergoing a medical which involves a medical history and examination, with this then recorded on a form called the D4 form. Bottom line? Our doctor will use this to complete your medical and then you send it off to the DVLA. Simple as that!

Don't leave home for your appointment without these essentials:
NHS GPs are swamped and as such, may not have capacity to conduct D4 DVLA medicals. This is because D4 DVLA medicals are considered non NHS work.
Any GMC doctor with full registration can complete the medical.
Driver medical providers complete your DVLA medical, however don't play driver medical roulette. We've completed thousands of driver medicals, with expert knowledge and answers to all your burning questions.
D2 form: You fill it out to get your provisional license, like a driver's permission slip.
D4 form: It's the medical application form, a doctor's job. Lucky for you, we're experts in completing DVLA D4 driver medicals. Book an appointment and leave the medical and the associated D4 paperwork to us!
A D4 medical usually takes about 15 minutes. Longer if you stop for a chat and biscuit.
Only a fully registered GMC registered doctor can complete this medical, and as per DVLA and it doesn't have to be your GP. But beware, amigo! Choosing an inexperienced doctor or provider could lead to form fumbles and frustrating delays.
Some providers hire a mix of newbie and seasoned doctors for their clinics, leaving you guessing which you're gonna get. But fear not! Our GMC registered doctor is experienced in driver medicals.
Opticians can handle the vision test, but they can't do the whole D4 form. Good news though, we've got you covered! Our price includes the vision assessment, so no need to hit up the optician separately. We'll handle the whole shebang for you!
Our competitive price is just £45, and we include the eye test too!
You've got options, my friend:
Not every post office, my friend. Only participating post offices carry them.
You've got a four-month deadline from the day you got your form filled out, my friend. If you miss it, the DVLA might give it the cold shoulder, and you'll have to go through the medical exam all over again.
